This Months Web Trend

Material Design (Lite)

Material Design (Lite) is a visual language created by Google. The MDL components are created with CSS, JavaScript, and HTML. These components are used with Material Design structure to construct web pages and web apps that are reliable, striking and functional. Pages that are developed with MDL will stick to modern web design principles like device independence and browser portability.

Material Design (Lite) uses paper elements; this allows a developer to approach design from a more modular approach; For Instance, a developer can plug a MDL graph into an existing website without using other material design components.

Google says MDL is framework agnostic, and can be used with just about any front-end solution a web designer or developer might want to use.
If you’re interested in using MDL, Google offers a variety of UI elements such as spinners, text-fields, buttons and tool tips available to use for your website. Google has also taken care of the mobile friendliness of your MDL enabled website with the use of responsive grids and breakpoints that follow Material Design and adaptive UI guidelines.

Don’t Over Saturate Your Market

Slow and steady wins the race.  We were taught that lesson by the Tortoise and the Hare when we were children.  Yet, it is an important lesson to keep in mind when marketing your business.  The key to a successful marketing blitz is balance.

Keeping your website updated is important, just like ensuring you are maintaining a marketing presence.  However, pushing all of your updates and promotion out at the same time can lead to an oversaturated market where customers/clients will end up missing what you are trying to promote.

A staggered approach is best, promoting products or services that are relevant at the time or a build up strategy as a “countdown” to a product launch or service to build up the “excitement”.

You want to ensure your updates/marketing are reaching your audience at the most effective time, along with ensuring that it is impactful and effective on your audience.

The key is to keep them engaged, yet not overwhelmed.

Converting Website Clicks to Visits

So you are currently dominating the web with your online advertising campaigns.  You have mastered a cohesive social media campaign (through your Facebook, Twitter, Google+, Tumblr etc.) and you are currently running successful ADWords campaign.

All of this publicity is currently driving numerous potential customers and clients to your website, yet according to your Analytics they are “clicking through” to your website, yet not “visiting” the website.

Don’t let a successful marketing campaign be foiled by an unsatisfactory website.  Once you have drawn your audience to your website the key is to retain them in order to convert “potentials” in clients.

Content is key when it comes to having a successful website.  You need to ensure you are providing as much information as possible, while not being repetitive or too “wordy”.

Promote the most successful aspects of your business to display why customers/clients should choose your business.

Web users are also a very visual audience so having a professionally designed website that is visually appealing is also an important asset.

Finally, it is important to ensure that there is a way for your audience to connect with your business. Various forms of contact from address, email, phone, web forms, chat, etc. allow you to stay connected with your audience. As simple as it may seem people to forget this important detail.
